Denise Charlton is a consultant and executive coach working with organisations on strategic management, leadership and team development, strategic communications and organisational development. She has over 25 years’ experience as a campaigner, activist and leader in areas of equality, diversity, human rights, anti-discrimination and integration issues. Denise served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Immigrant Council of Ireland, an Independent Law Centre working on integration and migration, from 2003 until 2014. Prior to that Denise was the Director of Women Aid an organisation working to end gender based violence. In both roles, she worked at local, national EU and international levels on social justice issues and led successful campaigns for legislative change. Denise has initiated, managed and overseen a range of EU Projects. She has worked on arrange of both government and NGO committees and commissions, including: Turn off the Red Light Campaign (on prostitution and anti-trafficking); Irish Government Working Group on Trafficking of Human Beings; National Steering Committee on Violence against Women; National Crime Council and the Women’s Health Council. Denise co-founded Marriage Equality and was co- chairperson until 2013. Denise is the Irish Expert nominated to the European Commission Expert Group on Trafficking in Human Beings. She is a member of the Irish Press Council, an Ambassador for the Community Foundation Women’s Fund, Vice-Chair of Children Right’s Alliance and a board member of Counter Point Arts.
