Stephanie Christina Leonard
Stephanie is a community organiser and founder of Act Build Change, a free online training platform to learn how to organise and campaign. Act Build Change was built to support people who want to act but do not have the resources to attend on the ground training. Until recently, Stephanie was a community organiser for Citizens UK for three years. It was here that Stephanie founded Stand Up Stand Out, a migrant youth movement, who work on issues facing young migrants in London. Their most significant win to date was securing a new Deputy Mayor for Integration in 2017. Stephanie Ensured Camden and Islington led the way in London for Syrian resettlement, resettling 29 families and 80 children. Stephanie co-developed and ran the practical module of MSc Social Development Practice, at University College London. Here she led research into the challenges of London’s growing housing crisis and its impact on the educational outcomes and wellbeing of children. Stephanie has also won 4 Living Wage campaigns, putting hundreds of thousands of pounds back into the pockets of workers. Alongside campaigning, Stephanie has trained hundreds of people in the craft of community organising.
